REUNION RACING UNDER SUNNY SKIES!

SUNSHINE! While the weather forecasters predicted 70% chance of rain all weekend long, racing went on under sunny skies for all but 45 minutes (on Sunday).  The GASSER GODS let it rain during the night, which cooled off the days.  All those who stayed away because of the weather forecasts, missed a great GASSER Reunion.

Club Member Sammy Cooper took the long distance award with his 12,000 mile trip from Australia.  His last appearance at the Gasser Reunion was in 2004.  His Aussie slang and sense of humor made him a beloved 'celebrity' once again.

Don Moyer's wheelstand, and first run at the event, shocked even Don.  It was a sky-high, lane-changer.  His AMC powered Willys found more traction than it was used to and rocketed UP!  What a way to start off the 10th Annual GASSER Reunion!

The next issue of the magazine will be ALL-Reunion.  I have 3,000+ photos to review from just one photographer, staffer Bob Wenzelburger, with who knows how many more yet to come in from the gaggle of photogs at the event.

More later, I'm working on the upcoming GASSER Nationals.  See you there!  Ernest

COUNTDOWN!

A week from today, vendors and early bird GASSERs will be pulling into Beaver Springs Dragway!!!!  OK, I could put more ! signs but 4 seems 'almost' enough.  My thanks to Byron at Gasser Madness for some great, take me back, photos that remind me why we love GASSERS.  It was a time that will never come again, but a time we honor with our GASSER Magazine events.

Makes me sad that those glory years are gone, but happy that we gather together to honor those who gave us our history.

I'll be at track early Thursday.  See you there!

MALLICOATS ARE READY FOR REUNION!

The Mallicoat Twins AA/GS '68 Cuda just received its new front end and is ready to make the long tow from the West to the East.  First stop? The 10th Annual GASSER Reunion at Beaver Springs Dragway of course!  What else would expect from a car whose front spoiler is lettered with 'GASSER MAGAZINE'?  We'll see you all there!

Check out the Nostalgia Gas Champion Trophy!

Check out the just-finished 2011 GASSER Reunion trophy that will be awarded at Beaver Springs Dragway on Sunday, June 12. Ken McIntyre, my brother, created it from old parts that Keith Stribling donated from his extensive racing memorabilia collection. This custom trophy will go to the event's Nostalgia Gas Champion.

Keith created last year's award out of an old 12 spoke mag wheel. It was equally stunning.

Thanks Ken & Keith, great job!

Stone, Woods & Cook at REUNION!

The famed Stone, Woods & Cook Willys coupe will be at the 10th Annual GASSER Reunion at Beaver Springs Dragway, June 10-12.

While we lament the passing of the original SWC owners, including the legendary 'Cookie', we are glad that the car is in the hands of Joe Troilo.  Joe is bringing the car to the Reunion.   If you attend, you'll be able to check out one of the stars of the GASSER Era.  We're Racing Back to the Sixties.

Thanks Joe.

This famed pair of Gasser Legends from the Sixties are still racing in the Gas classes of today.  They'll be at the Reunion along with their tire-smoking, ear-blasting and ground-thumping AA/GS 1968 'Cuda.  Watch the video and then make plans to see them in person at Beaver Springs Dragway, June 10-12! GASSER Reunion T-shirt Design!

It's the Reunion's 10th Anniversary
so it seemed fitting that we pay tribute to the very first event shirt.  The cars on the shirt at that time had no lettering on them.  Now, with the Mazmanian family's and Ohio George's permission, the cars feature the decals and lettering that they had back in the day.

Big John's son, Vic Mazmanian, will be at the Reunion as will Ohio George.  They'll be signing autographs, shirts and meeting and greeting racers and fans.

June 10-12:  Beaver Springs Dragway!  Bring your camera!

S&S RACING TEAM NEWS!

GOOD NEWS:  "The S&S RACING TEAM will be bringing a total of six cars to the 10th Annual GASSER Reunion!"
Dave Hales

Back in 2007, the S&S Racing Team were the Grand Marshals of the 6th Annual GASSER Reunion.  In the years since then, we've lost K.S. and Pork.  Dave Hales, Fred Bear and Gene Altizer are keeping the memories of this great racing team alive for all who remember the glory days of the GASSER Era.
